‘The Cove’ takes Toronto Film Critics Association award for best doc

The 2009 Toronto Film Critics Association Awards have been announced, with Louie Psihoyos' The Cove winning the Allan King Documentary Award, renamed to honor the Canadian filmmaker who died earlier this year. TFCA is made up of Toronto-based journalists and broadcasters who specialize in film criticism and commentary. Runners up were Anvil! The Story of Anvil and The Beaches of Agnes. Docs eligible for the awards were films released in Canada in 2009, films that qualify for the 2009 Oscars and have Canadian distribution scheduled by the end of February, 2010.
