On February 7, 2009, bush fires ravaged lands across Victoria, Australia, resulting in the loss of 173 lives and destroying close to 500,000 hectares of Victorian bushland. In this special produced for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, writer/director Jacob Hickey and Renegade Films combine eyewitness accounts from survivors and firefighters with footage from assorted sources, including amateur video, and CGI recreations to provide a real-time, first hand look at Australia’s worst peacetime disaster.
