NGVI appoints VP of international development

The newly-created National Geographic Ventures International has named Darren Poynton as its vice president of international development.

The newly-created National Geographic Ventures International (NGVI) has named Darren Poynton as its vice president of international development. In his new role, Poynton, most recently finance director for National Geographic Channels International, will be tasked with identifying and creating greater cross-platform opportunities for assorted National Geographic businesses under the NGVI umbrella, including games, mobile and digital media. He will also work closely with the US-based business heads to further develop their activities and initiatives in the international marketplace. Poynton will also head up finance for National Geographic Television International (NGTI) from his London base, and will report directly to NGTI/NGVI president Maurice van Sabben.
