ABC TV in Australia has made two promotions, Jennifer Collins to head of factual and Alan Erson to head of documentaries, replacing Stuart Menzies, who is going to head up ABC2. ABC’s new TV operational structure will give Collins an expanded role, with the heads of documentaries and sports and events reporting through to the head of factual position. Collins will be responsible for 900 hours of television, which is similar to her previous role, in which she delivered around 300 hours to the network, including developing and launching programs such as Poh’s Kitchen, Gardening Australia and Collectors. She begins her position immediately.

The new head of documentaries, Alan Erson, also begins immediately, setting to work developing and commissioning for ABC’s independently-produced docs. Previously, Erson has been ABC TV’s commissioning editor for science, history and natural history documentaries, and overseen more than 115 hours of television and on-line projects. Erson has previously worked at BBC, Canada’s CBC, and the U.S.’ Discovery and National Geographic channels.
