All they get is a T-shirt: AETN’s History has launched a Facebook app for American Pickers from Cineflex Productions. The network is using Facebook to poll fans of the Canadian-made reality series about which of three T-shirt designs they would like to see made available for sale exclusively on Facebook. The popular reality series features Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz on a mission to recycle a down-sizing America, even if it means diving into grimy junk piles. ‘Hey Pickers fans! We know how much you love watching Mike and Frank travel the country as they recover trash and turn it into treasure, so we want you to vote on your favorite American Pickers t-shirt design!,’ the Facebook app asks American Pickers’ viewers. The buzz-building Facebook app is a riff on movie studios that routinely ask fans to choose between designs for posters, with the posters eventually becoming valuable collector items.
