London’s Daily Telegraph is reporting that Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp is in talks to acquire daughter Elisabeth Murdoch’s Shine Group.

Shine, one of the UK’s biggest superindies and owner of the MasterChef format, is 60% owned by Ms. Murdoch, with Sony Pictures Television International currently owning 20%, BSkyB owning 13% and the remainder owned by management. Its worth is projected to be between £600 million and £800 million.

The Telegraph also reports that News Corp is not the only company that has held talks with Shine for a potential acquisition. The Hollywood Reporter received comment from Shine that “given the current consolidation within the international production sector” it has retained JP Morgan to advise the company on “strategic options and growth opportunities.”
