Discovery Communications has announced that beginning February 1, FitTV will become Discovery Fit & Health. The new network will feature health programming, forensic mysteries, medical stories, baby and pregnancy programming and more from Discovery Health (which was replaced by the Oprah Winfrey Network on January 1) and FitTV, alongside new premiere specials and series.
Some of the new slate includes Dr. G: Medical Examiner and Untold Stories of the ER from Discovery Health, while early morning programming will include FitTV offerings Bodies in Motion, Namaste Yoga and Shimmy. Discovery Health event programming, such as Baby Week, Psych Week and Adventures in Parenting, will also carry over to the new network. Aside from developing original content, Discovery Fit & Health will acquire U.S. and international programming.
