Scripps Networks cooks up Food deal in Ireland

Scripps Networks Interactive-owned Food Network has a carriage agreement with Irish cable operator UPC Ireland, which will see the channel launched in the country starting today.

Scripps Networks Interactive-owned Food Network has a carriage agreement with Irish cable operator UPC Ireland, which will see the channel launched in the country starting today (September 6).

Food Network will be available in Ireland to all UPC digital subscribers on channel 508. Shows featured on the channel will include Chopped, Barefoot Contessa with Ina Garten and Food Network Challenge, as well as Gino vs. Britain, a series starring chef Gino D’Acampo, who is currently in Dublin to mark the channel’s launch within the region.

Nick Thorogood, MD of Food Network EMEA, said: “With this launch, the channel is fast becoming the key international destination for lifestyle entertainment.” Simon Kelehan, head of TV at UPC Ireland, added: “Food Network is home to so many top rated shows that our customers will just love to watch.”

Since its international launch in November 2009, Food Network has expanded to more than 80 territories throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the company said.
