Entertainment One (eOne) has acquired worldwide rights to Ballinran Entertainment and Le Big Boss Productions’ The Captains, a doc directed by Star Trek‘s William Shatner on the series’ assorted captains.

The doc follows Shatner, the original Captain Kirk, as he journeys to meet other actors who have played the role of Starship Captain in the Star Trek television and film franchise – a list that includes Sir Patrick Stewart, Chris Pine, Scott Bakula and Kate Mulgrew. Oscar-winner Christopher Plummer also makes an appearance.

“The Star Trek brand has such a huge die-hard following that we’re confident fans will be keen to join Captain Kirk on this behind-the-scenes journey,” said eOne’s Prentiss Fraser, SVP worldwide sales and acquisitions.

The Captains is produced by Le Big Boss Productions in association with Ballinran Entertainment, 455 Films and Love Lake Productions. The film was written and directed by William Shatner and produced by Craig Thompson with Shatner, Thompson, David Zappone and Kevin Layne as executive producers.
