Banijay launches “Non-Stop” celeb news channel

The Banijay Group and multi-platform producer Mediatic System have partnered to launch the 24-hour celebrity news and entertainment channel Non-Stop People on French satellite service CanalSat.

The Banijay Group and multi-platform producer Mediatic System have partnered to launch the 24-hour celebrity news and entertainment channel Non-Stop People on French satellite service CanalSat.

Debuting on Monday (November 19) in France and headed by Mediatic System founder and president Hugues Dangy, the 24/7 channel is billed as a CNN for celebrity news, with news bulletins every 15 minutes in addition to feature stories. Both companies will have operational and editorial oversight of the channel and its team of 30 journalists based in Paris, London, New York and Los Angeles.

The channel also features digital extensions, such as mobile and tablet apps and a website that hosts up-to-the-minute news and exclusive video content.

“This partnership is part of a number of strategic initiatives for Banijay Group in the digital world,” the global producer/distributor’s EVP, Francois de Brugada, said in a statement. “Non-Stop People is not only a unique concept for a news channel but an efficient tool for distributing entertainment and celebrity content across all platforms. We are already working on an international roll-out for the channel and exploring the many ways that we can further exploit this rich new pool of resources.”
