Colm Martin, a series editor for the BAFTA-winning Young Apprentice, has joined the factual entertainment team at UK satcaster Sky as a commissioning editor.

Martin will join Lorraine Charker-Phillips and Charlotte Desai in the team and will commission across the portfolio of Sky’s entertainment channels: Sky 1, Sky Atlantic, Sky Living and Sky Arts.

Having worked in television for over 18 years, Martin most recently won the best reality and constructed factual award at the 2012 BAFTAs for series two of Talkback Thames’ Young Apprentice. He’s also worked as a series editor for BBC2′s The Choir: Sing While You Work and BBC1′s My Story, and served as an exec producer and series editor for series five of BBC1′s The Apprentice.

“Colm is a great addition to the factual entertainment team,” said Michele Kurland, head of factual entertainment at Sky, in a statement. “He is a great filmmaker with a brilliant touch for storytelling and has worked on some of the nation’s best loved programs. Colm will be bringing his award-winning skills to the new ambitious projects we will be announcing soon.”

“Working alongside some of the best indies, this is [a] real opportunity to make genuinely entertaining factual TV that people will want to watch and talk about,” added Martin.
