From director Steve James (Hoop Dreams, The Interrupters), this doc shines the spotlight on what it calls “the silent concussion crisis in American sports.” For kids on school teams and pro athletes alike, the potential long-term effects of concussions, coupled with a “leave everything on the field” mentality prevalent in sports, make for a dangerous mix. Inspired by the book from former wrestler and football player Christopher Nowinski, Head Games brings together scientific evidence and riveting testimony from athletes, coaches and parents to push the issue to the forefront.
