MIPCOM ’13: “Bet on Your Baby” sells globally

Electus has sold the game show Bet on Your Baby to 22 broadcasters, with CCTV1 in China among the buyers acquiring the format.

The format, created and coproduced by 5×5 Media and Electus, sees parents try to predict their children’s next move. If they are correct, they win a cash prize that will go towards the child’s education.

CCTV1 will air the series on October 13 at 6 p.m., and the deal was negotiated alongside Zespa Media.

Electus has also secured Bet on Your Baby format deals with Argentina’s Canal 13, Brazil’s Globosat, South Korea’s CJ E&M, Philippines’ ABS CBN, Turkey’s Endemol and Ukraine’s 1+1.

Format options include Australia’s Network 10, Germany’s Tresor, India’s Endemol, Israel’s Gil Productions, Italy’s Magnolia, Netherland’s RTL, Norway’s Metronome and Portugal’s Endemol.

Finished tape deals were inked with Australia’s Network Ten, Hong Kong’s TVB, Korea’s CJ, Latin America’s Discovery, Poland’s Discovery, and Singapore’s MediaCorp.

“The successful rollout of Bet on Your Baby internationally has proven that titles which are developed to be both relatable and entertaining from their inception, will always have the best chance for global success,” said John Pollak, president of Electus International.

“Licensing Bet on Your Baby to CCTV1 in China and 21 other territories so soon after its launch in the U.S. is a true testament to the global appeal of this unique format.”
