Discovery Channel in the U.S. has tapped UK-based Kowalski TV to produce Pure Evel – American Legend, a special on the daredevil Evel Knievel.

Premiering on October 14 at 10 p.m. EST/PST, the one-hour documentary is a close look at the man behind the motorcycle jumping, from his childhood growing up in the mining town of Butte, Montana to performing his stunts in small county fairs before he made it to sold-out stadiums across the country.

Pure Evel features Knievel’s infamous jump over the Caeser’s Palace fountains in Las Vegas and the horrific crashes, as well as his final days.

The warts-and-all special explores the daredevil’s darker and violent side, with candid interviews with his family, friends and colleagues, as well as archival footage showing the man behind the myth.

Pure Evel – American Legend is executive produced by Kowalski TV’s Simon Howley and Discovery’s Craig Coffman.
