British hotelier and TV host Alex Polizzi (pictured) is to star in a four-episode travel series set in Italy.

Produced by indie Twofour for UK broadcaster Channel 5, Alex Polizzi’s Secret Italy follows Polizzi as she travels to Italy to visit hidden tourist gems, as well as sites meaningful to her family history, such as the foothills of Rome where she vacationed as a child, and places she worked in her twenties.

“This series is a sort of homage to my grandparents and the different regions of Italy they came from,” she said in a statement. “I spent years living in Italy in my twenties, and this was an amazing opportunity to revisit the sites of so many family holidays and celebrations, as well as discovering some new wonders along the way.”

Since 2008, Polizzi has hosted Channel5′s long-running hotel makeover series The Hotel Inspector. She also starred in BBC2′s Alex Polizzi: The Fixer.

Alex Polizzi’s Secret Italy is being exec produced by Twofour’s ┬áMelanie Leach and Dan Adamson.
