U.S. nets Pivot and the Spanish-language Univision are teaming up for a Hispanic-targeting documentary showcase entitled Panoramica, hosted by actor America Ferrera (pictured).

The series – presented by Pivot and Univision News – will consist of eight docs coproduced or acquired by the two groups, including Cesar’s Last Fast, on American activist Cesar Chavez, and mining doc Marmato. Each film will be introduced by Ferrera.

As previously reported, Cesar’s Last Fast was the first of 10 docs to be acquired by the Participant Media- and Univision Communications-owned networks, as part of an alliance announced in March 2013.

All eight docs will be broadcast in Spanish on Univision or UniMás, and simulcast in English – or with English subtitles – on Pivot.

“We are delighted to have America hosting the Panoramica series,” said Isaac Lee, president of Univision News and CEO of Fusion. “Apart from being a distinguished actress, she has become an admired role model for young Latinos across the U.S. through her enormously successful career in Hollywood.”

Evan Shapiro, president of Pivot, added: “America has a proven passion for films that unearth the root of social and eco-political issues in the Latino community. We are very excited to have her on board as the host of Panoramica and to lend her voice to these fascinating films that dive into the issues that are top of mind for young Latinos.”
