UK distributor All3Media International is readying the launches of local versions of Studio Lambert-produced series Gogglebox (pictured) in South Korea and Mongolia.

The series – in which families and friends watch television and provide running commentary on the programming – will air weekly in South Korea on KBS, and is to feature a low-income family, a pastor and their mother-in-law, a retired couple, exchange students from Brazil and Bangladesh, a young couple, and a local celebrity. KBS will produce the series in-house, and a rough English translation of the show’s title will be Determined to Watch the Premiere.

Elsewhere, Mongolia is also set to air a local version of Gogglebox. The as-yet-untitled series will be produced this year, though details of a producer and broadcaster have yet to be announced.

Versions of Gogglebox - originally broadcast on UK pubcaster Channel 4 – currently air in 25 territories, including Canada, Israel, France, Spain, Holland, Ireland and Australia, among others.

“There is a real momentum now with the international roll-out of Gogglebox and we are delighted to see our first Asian deal in place in South Korea – our first format deal with KBS,” said Sabrina Duguet, senior VP of international formats for All3Media International, in a statement.

“The production consultancy, featuring the nuances of how to approach local customizing is working very well and the second wave of productions are happening in several territories,” she added. “We are confident that we’ll have a deal in Latin America early this year as well.”
