Scripps Networks UK and EMEA has commissioned Rob Bell’s Mega Marathon Challenge (working title), to premiere on Travel Channel in April 2015.
The 2 x 30-minute documentary follows the globe-trotting Bell and five of his friends (pictured, above) as the embark upon seven marathons on seven continents in seven days, from the freezing climes of Antarctica to Singapore, Patagonia, Texas and Cairo, before finishing in Sydney.
The two-parter will combine traditional and Go-Pro footage , and a health sciences specialist will be present to monitor the team’s health. Bell and his team are also raising funds for charities the John Maclean Foundation and Keel London.
“The team’s experience will provide a fascinating and exciting new series for our viewers as we continue to expand our portfolio of original, informative and high quality programming,” said Gareth Williams, Scripps Networks UK & EMEA’s VP of commissioning, in a statement.
Rob Bell’s Mega Marathon Challenge was commissioned by Williams and Nick Thorogood, Scripps Networks UK & EMEA’s senior VP of content and marketing. It is produced by Stewart Merrett. A premiere date has yet to be determined.
