Scripps Networks’ UK and EMEA division is boosting its regional teams with the appointments of Ross Hair as senior VP of commercial and Filippo Ubaldini as country manager for Italy.

In his new role, Hair will be responsible for distribution, brand growth and revenue across the Food Network, Travel Channel and Fine Living properties. The exec – who begins the position on March 30, reporting to Jonathan Sichel, MD of Scripps Networks UK and EMEA – is also to oversee affiliate sales and on-air ad sales teams, in addition to working with programming and digital to boost cross-platform revenue.

Hair was previously a media consultant to sports digital media start-ups in London following three years as MD for ESPN EMEA. Prior to ESPN, Hair was a 10-year veteran of Sony Pictures Television, most recently serving as executive VP for the EMEA channels division. His earlier work includes roles as director of strategic planning with ESPN Star Sports in Asia and head of commercial affairs for Nickelodeon UK.

Meanwhile, Ubaldini – who is also to report to Sichel - will be responsible for leveraging and optimizing Scripps Networks’ brands across all platforms and distribution channels in Italy. As country manager, the exec will handle content, programming and marketing; expand Scripps Networks audiences for the region; and maximize distribution and revenue.

Ubaldini - who is to begin the position on April 2 – joins Scripps after founding Filmedia, where he served as president and MD. In the role, the exec managed and launched international and local brands within the Italian free-to-air and pay-TV market, as well as with various Northern European broadcasters.

Prior to Filmedia, Ubaldini worked with Scripps Networks International on market intelligence and business development, and also supported the company’s launch of Fine Living Italy. Prior to this, he held executive and senior positions at GOE HDTV, Discovery Networks Europe, Cairo Communication, Telemontecarlo and Mediaset.

“We are continually strengthening our organization as we evaluate the demands of the international marketplace and our commitment to growth,” said Sichel in a statement.

“Appointing Hair and Ubaldini, both with strong commercial experience and impressive track records, to spearhead these divisions will ensure we continue to extend our brands and business opportunities across the region,” he added.
