France 5 has ordered a documentary about the inner workings of the Paris subway system from indie producer Pernel Media.

The hour-long Paris Métro: A City Under a City will go behind-the-scenes in the 133-mile underground public transportation network to meet workers and expose little-seen areas.

The commission is the latest in a series of Pernel-produced docs about Parisian institutions. France 5 recently aired Champs Elysées: The Most Beautiful Avenue in the World and Pernel has been named the official production partner of luxury department store Printemps for its 150th anniversary year.

Samuel Kissous (pictured) is exec producing for Pernel Media. Céline Gandner commissioned the film for France 5.

Pernel Media will retain the distribution rights for the film outside France.
