ID readies ‘instamentary’ special on escaped inmates

U.S. net Investigation Discovery is readying its latest ‘Front Page’ special on recently escaped inmates Richard Matt and David Sweat.

The one-hour special, titled Prison Break: Killers on the Run, is part of ‘Front Page’ – the network’s “instamentary” strand – which covers cases making headlines within weeks of the initial incident or arrest.

The Peacock Productions-made special is to delve inside the escape and subsequent manhunt for Matt and Sweat, who broke out of New York’s maximum security state prison for men, the Clinton Correctional Facility, on June 6.

According to a release by the net, the special will take viewers inside the prison to reveal how the two inmates ended up behind bars and orchestrated their escape.

Prison Break will also feature interviews with police officers, investigators and former Clinton Correctional Facility prisoners.

Prison Break: Killers on the Run is to debut on June 18 at 9 p.m. EST/PST. The special is exec produced by Peacock Productions’ Elizabeth Waller and Lloyd Fales. For Investigation Discovery, Sara Kozak and John Cavanagh are serving as executive producers.
