Nordic World sends “Breaking Borders” to Belgium, Asia Pacific

Scandinavian distributor Nordic World has sold traveling culinary docuseries Breaking Borders (pictured) to Scripps Networks Asia Pacific and Belgian pubcaster VRT.

The series, which is based on TV2 Norway’s Dining with the Enemy, documents the adventures of Peabody Award-winning correspondent Mariana van Zeller and chef Michael Voltaggio as they travel into conflict zones to uncover the varying perspectives on geopolitical issues while breaking bread with guests from opposite sides of an inherent conflict. The 13 x 43-minute series will see the pair visit such areas as Israel, Palestine, Northern Ireland, Egypt, Lebanon, the Mexico-U.S. border, Cambodia, Rwanda, Cyprus and Cuba.

The series was originally produced for U.S. net Travel Channel by MY Entertainment.

“We hope these deals will be the first of many for this compelling show, which has global appeal woven into its fabric,” said Paulina Eklund, VP of sales at Nordic World, in a statement.

Also, Eklund has inked a deal with TV2 Denmark that will send more than 150 hours of lifestyle programming broadcast over the Danish net.
