China’s Dragon TV orders Bear Grylls’ “Survivor Games”

China’s Dragon TV has ordered a Bear Grylls-fronted adventure series titled Survivor Games (pictured).

The 12 x 90-minute series will find eight Chinese celebrities trying to survive in the wild for 12 days. The program is a copro between UK indie betty, Bear Grylls Ventures (BGV), Shanghai Media Group-owned DocuChina, Yunji Media, Shanghai Oriental Pearl Media and Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific.

Survivor Games marks the first Chinese commission for betty and BGV, which have previously partnered on Bear Grylls: Mission Survive.

According to a release issued by betty, the format of the show will be co-created by Yunji Media and Discovery Networks Asia Pacific, while Discovery’s Studios Group will distribute the program overseas. Grylls is presenting the series, alongside local adviser and co-presenter Jiang Changjian, a TV personality and professor at China’s FuDan University.

Along with Grylls, Survivor Games will be exec produced by Delbert Shoopman (BGV), Tom Sheahan (betty), and Vikram Channa (Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific).
