Endemol Shine-owned UK prodco Initial has promoted Catherine Lynch to creative director, effective immediately.

She will concentrate on expanding the company’s slate of UK entertainment and factual entertainment programming with international potential. Lynch reports to Mirella Breda, who was promoted from creative director to managing director in March following longtime MD Nick Samwell-Smith’s announcement that he would depart from Initial this month.

Formerly the Big Brother UK producer’s head of development, Lynch was part of the creative team behind ITV2′s The Almost Impossible Game Show. MTV in the U.S. recently acquired the format rights and is producing an American version with Endemol Shine North America.

Her development credits also include Big Box, Little Box for ITV. In the series, five families receive packages and assemble and road test the products inside. Broadcasters in Germany, Sweden and Norway have picked up the format rights.

Lynch joined Endemol Shine in the UK in 2003 as a creative intern before moving to Monkey and ITV Studios. She returned to the company in 2007 and started working in development two years later. She was promoted to head of development in 2011.
