Arrow Media EP boards Pioneer Productions

The Tinopolis Group-owned prodco has appointed former Arrow Media executive producer Thomas Viner (pictured) to the post of creative director.

Tinopolis Group-owned Pioneer Productions has appointed former Arrow Media executive producer Thomas Viner (pictured) to the post of creative director.

In his new role, Viner will develop specialist factual content for broadcasters worldwide. working closely alongside Pioneer CEO Jonathan Hewes – to whom he will report – as well as head of development Karen Willis and executive producer Stephen Marsh.

Viner joins Pioneer from UK indie Arrow Media, where he served as an executive producer since 2013. During this time, Viner produced more than 75 hours of content across the genres of science, history, current affairs and fact-ent, including National Geographic Wild’s Animal Fight Night, Investigation Discovery’s See No Evil as well as BBC2 and Smithsonian Channel documentary Bletchley Park: Code-Breaking’s Forgotten Genius.

Viner has also served as a producer and director on Raw TV’s Locked Up Abroad franchise for National Geographic Channel and UK pubcaster Channel 5; Blink Films’ Gladiator: The True Story for Channel 5, Smithsonian and BBC Worldwide; and Flashback TV’s Tony Robinson & The Blitz Witch for Channel 4.

Meanwhile, Pioneer’s production slate includes such series as Discovery Channel’s How the Universe Works; Channel 4′s World’s Weirdest Weather; Treasures Of The Earth for PBS ‘NOVA’ in the U.S. and KBS in Korea; Discovery UK’s David Baddiel on the Silk Road; Red Bull Media House’s PaddleSUP: Mission Amazon; and BBC2′s Bloody Queens: Elizabeth and Mary.
