Discovery Communications has renewed its multi-region agreement with Danish telecommunication company TDC to expand Discovery’s digital business in Norway and Denmark.
The deal between Discovery and TDC-owned YouSee will give 1.3 million Danish households access to Discovery-owned Kanal 4, Kanal 5 & 6, Eurosport among other channels. YouSee customers will have access to new Discovery content – now available on mobile devices – with programs like Spartan Ultimate Team Challenge (pictured).
In Norway, Discovery’s agreement with TDC-owned GET includes the roll-out of TV Norge, Max, FEM, Eurosport and various other Discovery-owned global brand channels. For GET customers, the deal will make Eliteserien (the professional league of Norweigan soccer) broadly accessible when it starts up in April. The media co also has signed agreements related to the distribution of Eliteserien with Canal Digital, Altibox and RiksTV.
“We are pleased to announce that Discovery will continue to work with TDC in the years ahead. In particular, in Denmark, we have agreed to a ground-breaking deal that intensifies our cooperation with YouSee across platforms, which now includes mobile,” Mike Lang, president, international development, digital and Discovery Nordics, said in a statement.
