Tinopolis Group-owned Mentorn Media has elevated Paul Hughes to head of development.
In his new role, Hughes will lead Mentorn’s development team, with a focus on factual entertainment and entertainment content for the UK and global market.
The executive joined Mentorn last year as senior development producer. Previously, he has held development roles at Zig Zag, Two Four, the BBC and Remarkable Productions, working across a slate of entertainment and factual entertainment shows.
Hughes succeeds Mentorn’s previous head of development, Matt Clifton, who departed the company last year to join Rise Films as development executive. Simom Horne, development executive at Tinopolis’ central development team, had been covering the role in the interim.
“Paul has an infectious passion for making great shows and is bursting with ideas, so he’s the perfect fit for Mentorn’s talented development team,” said Celia Taylor, managing director of Mentorn, in a statement. “We already have a number of exciting new projects in the pipeline and are in active discussions with both U.S. and UK broadcast partners, so now’s the time to further build on those relationships to make brilliant shows audiences will fall in love with.”
Mentorn’s current shows include BBC2′s Robot Wars (pictured) and Question Time to Channel 5′s Traffic Cops.
