BBC1 has commissioned All3Media indie Studio Lambert to produce a two-part specialist factual series addressing behavioral issues of pets.

Nightmare Pets: SOS will follow a team of animal behaviorists as they attempt to help Britain’s most troubled pets that suffer from a host of issues, including excessive barking, aggression with strangers, separation anxiety, biting and fouling.

The 2 x 30-minute program will also provide an examination into the behavior of the pets’ helpless owners to determine whether their deportment is actually detrimental to the demeanor of their furry family member.

From basic training to extreme behavior, this series will help owners at their wits’ end, as well as provide audiences with simple tips and tricks on how to train a pet at home.

Studio Lambert’s Mike Cotton and Tim Harcourt are executive producers, and Katrina Hession is the series producer.

The project was commissioned by Charlotte Moore, director of content, and Tom McDonald, BBC’s head of commissioning for natural history and specialist factual. Craig Hunter is commissioning editor.

“Pet behavior and animal psychology is a rich and complicated subject to explore on BBC1 – not to mention very entertaining,” said Hunter in a statement. “From cats and dogs, pigs and parrots, this series promises to be full of shocking behavior and really useful advice for anyone with a pet that behaves badly.”
