British commercial broadcaster ITV has commissioned UK-headquartered Twofour to produce an exploratory series that escapes to the Greek Islands for the summer.
Our Shirley Valentine Summer (w/t; pictured) will follow a cast of seven women to the Mediterranean country as they live together under one roof to learn something new about themselves while discovering the people, the colors and the way of life of the islands.
Featured in the series will be television presenter and former glamour model Melinda Messenger; presenter and meteorologist Sian Lloyd; lawyer and reality star Nancy Dell’Olio; How Clean Is Your House? host Aggie Mackenzie; comedian Ninia Benjamin; TV personality Lizzie Cundy; former TV and radio presenter and psychotherapist Annabel Giles; and TV personality Ingrid Tarrant.
The feel-good series will follow the women – each of them single – as they chase the opportunity to try something new or pursue long-held dreams in an attempt to transform their lives, whether it’s learning a new skill, test driving a new career or looking for love.
A premiere date has yet to be set.
Elsewhere, ITV will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the National Health Service (NHS) with a musical one-off special from Endemol Shine North.
The 90-minute special, The Big NHS Singalong Live, will feature the organization’s staff, the NHS Choir and pop stars attempting to break the world record for the biggest live singalong ever broadcast by singing The Beatles’ “With a Little Help from My Friends”.
Presented by Ashley Banjo and Sara Cox, the 90-minute spectacular will spotlight feel-good stories from NHS staff and patients, and explore why some of the featured musical guests owe a debt to the service.
The Big NHS Singalong Live is executive produced by Endemol Shine North’s Rick Murray, Kevin Mundye and Sarah Thomson-Wooley. It was commissioned by ITV’s Priya Singh, commissioning editor, and Sue Murphy, head of factual entertainment.
