UK commercial television broadcaster ITV has ruled out a bid on global media co Endemol Shine Group.
In the midst of press speculation about ITV’s potential interest in the Netherlands-headquartered production conglomerate, the network released a statement that noted “ITV confirms that it has no current intention of making a bid for Endemol Shine Group.”
ITV was one of a handful of companies thought to be interested in purchasing the billion-dollar content creator when news broke that it was headed to the the buyer’s market this past June.
European entertainment network RTL Group bowed out of the race to acquire Endemol Shine in September, citing its focus on building up its Fremantle studio brand and to make smaller acquisitions.
Endemol Shine is equally co-owned by 21st Century Fox and Apollo Global Management. The company’s portfolio of brands includes such titles as Big Brother, Deal or No Deal? and MasterChef. Its stable of production outfits bolsters Endemol Shine North America, Endemol Shine UK, Dragonfly Film and Television, 51 Minds, Truly Original, Authentic Entertainment, distribution unit Endemol Shine International, DSP, Initial, Shine TV, Zeppotron, Tiger Aspect and Metronome Productions, among others.
