Freemantle-owned, LA-based unscripted prodco Original Productions (OP) has hired Jeff Stepp as vice president of development, while Jeffrey Bumgarner has been promoted from VP of programming to the role of senior VP of programming and development.

Stepp (pictured, left) will report to Brian Lovett, who joined Original as EVP of programming and development in August. He will focus on cultivating and developing new intellectual property, working from inception to series launch with OP’s production team and work to expand the company’s overall production slate.

He was previously director of development at Karga 7 Pictures, where he oversaw series development with partners including Animal Planet, Travel, Discovery and A&E. Before that, he was a network producer at Science Channel where he oversaw Outrageous Acts of Science, Survivorman, How the Universe Works and NASA’s Unexplained Files, among others.

Bumgarner (right) joined OP in 2010 as a producer on 1000 Ways to Die for Spike TV. He has produced TV across genres including game, sketch comedy, reality, crime and automotive. His most recent credits are Jay Leno’s Garage, which airs on CNBC, and the long-running Storage Wars on A&E.

He will also report to Lovett and is expanding his role with a heightened focus on development.
