Gusto TV lands on DistroTV in U.S. and UK

Linear food and lifestyle television channel Gusto TV is heading to the free OTT platform DistroTV in the U.S. and UK.

A stable of Gusto TV’s original food programming will make its way to DistroTV for free through connected devices, including Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple iOS and Android.

Gusto TV is currently available worldwide via traditional platforms and OTT services in Canada, Singapore, U.S., Latin America, and UK.

Twofour Rights inks first Russian deal for format commissions 

Twofour Rights has inked its first deal in Russia with free-to-air broadcaster Channel One who will make local versions of Twofour Group formats What Would Your Kid Do? and Change Your Tune.

What Would Your Kid Do? (pictured) features parents situated in a studio who have to guess how their children would act in a variety of classroom and real-world challenges and activities. The format has been commissioned in nine territories, including Belgium and Turkey, as well as options in Canada and India.

Elsewhere, Twofour’s musical gameshow format, Change Your Tune, features five off-key singers who receive weeks of vocal lessons before performing for the nation.

Production on these commissions will begin shortly with seasons of eight episodes of each title rolling out later this year.

Drive acquires Pablo Escobar documentary for global distribution 

UK producer, funding and distribution agency Drive has been appointed to distribute a docuseries about drug lord Pablo Escobar’s wife.

Produced by Canada’s Telegramme Media in collaboration with Escobar’s son Juan Pablo, Tata: Escobar’s Widow (2 x 60 minutes) features never-before seen material and photos, and interviews with Escobar’s wife, Victoria Eugenia Henao (“Tata”), as she breaks her silence of 25 years and reveals what her life was like with the infamous drug-trafficker.

Discovery for Latin America, Iberia, Italy and Spanish-speaking U.S. and French-Canadian channel operator Club illico have all pre-purchased the two-part documentary.

Drive is distributing the series globally and will launch the project to international buyers at the MIPTV market in Cannes, France, this April.

Discovery Inc. ups Keith Kazerman

Discovery has elevated Keith Kazerman to the newly created role of EVP of digital sales, advanced advertising and research, effective Monday (March 18).

Kazerman will shepherd the digital ad sales teams responsible for digital revenue across Discovery’s TV Everywhere Go apps and VOD, in addition to website and social media platforms. He will continue to oversee Discovery’s advertising business, research and addressable data-driven products.

Kazerman reports to Jon Steinlauf, chief U.S. ad sales officer for Discovery.

Under this new structure, Lauri Baker and Aaron Gallagher, joint SVPs of digital ad sales, will report directly to Kazerman.

Kazerman most recently served as the company’s group SVP of research, data and engage. He also oversaw Discovery’s ad sales marketing and client solutions sales, leading the teams dedicated to branded entertainment partnerships.

Prior to joining Discovery in 2015, Kazerman spent 10 years at DirecTV, serving as SVP, national ad sales.
