American pay-TV network Discovery Channel has commissioned All3Media-owned prodco betty to produce an eight-episode spin-off of its successful Wheeler Dealers franchise.
The 8 x 60-minute Wheeler Dealers: Dream Car will feature acclaimed motoring presenter Mike Brewer as he helps car enthusiasts turn in their unwanted vehicles in exchange for their dream car.
In the spin-off, Brewer will turn his attention to people who lack the understanding or resources of how to score the keys to their dream vehicle. Each episode of Wheeler Dealers: Dream Car will see Brewer and mechanic Marc ‘Elvis’ Priestley meet a new client and find inventive ways to add value to their existing ride, before flipping it for a profit and reinvesting the proceeds in a series of trade-ups that result in a dream car.
Additionally, Brewer will reveal the secrets to trading up by teaching viewers how to add value, read markets and broker deals to get their own dream set of wheels.
The series was commissioned for Discovery by Victoria Noble, senior director and executive producer, and is executive produced by Oliver Wilson. Betty’s David Harrison and Michael Wood are also credited as executive producers.
Wheeler Dealers: Dream Car adds to the franchise’s portfolio of spin-offs, which already includes Wheeler Dealers: Trading Up.
Discovery will commission, produce and distribute the series worldwide.
The automotive series will air on Discovery Channel across various markets, including the UK, Netherlands, South Africa and France. Additionally, it will bow on the MotorTrend App and MotorTrend TV in the U.S. and channels including DMAX Italy and Germany and Metro Poland across EMEA.
A premier date has yet to be announced for Wheeler Dealers: Dream Car.
