Comedian and producer Ellen DeGeneres has signed on to executive produce Discovery Channel’s upcoming natural history special Wildlife Warriors (w/t), which will sit under the network’s new Undiscovered banner.
First announced as The Red List, the program follows a group of dedicated conservationists around the world as they work to compile the most comprehensive record of the world’s wildlife species, known as The Red List.
Wildlife Warriors is produced by BBC Studios’ Natural History Unit and DeGeneres’ A Very Good Production for Discovery Channel. For BBC Studios, Doug Hope is executive producer and Steve Greenwood is the show runner. For A Very Good Production, DeGeneres and Jeff Kleeman are executive producers. Howard Swartz serves as executive produce for Discovery Channel.
Additional programming to land under the Undiscovered banner includes Mysterious Planet (w/t), a series produced by NHNZ for Discovery Channel, that takes audiences to five different regions around the world to showcase the local animals. From the forests of Indonesia to the highlands of Ethiopia, each episode reveals how the majestic landscapes evolved and examines why certain wildlife can only be found in those areas.
For NHNZ, Andrew Murray serves as series producer and Kyle Murdoch is executive producer. For Discovery Channel, Howard Swartz is executive producer.
Previously announced titles that will also be part of the Undiscovered banner include Perfect Planet (w/t) from Emmy and BAFTA-winning executive producer Alastair Fothergill, and XIX Entertainment and John Downer Productions’ Serengeti (w/t).
