Viacom-owned global youth brand MTV will launch a new live event celebrating reality TV with its first ever “RealityCon.”
The genre convention will convene stars, producers and creators from hit reality programs like Survivor, The Bachelor, Big Brother, The Challenge, Duck Dynasty, Love & Hip Hop, Mob Wives, The Real Housewives, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and MTV’s own The Real World, Jersey Shore and The Hills.
The event will take the form of fan activations, performances, interviews, and round-table discussions that explore reality TV’s “impact on society, representation of diversity in media, influence on entertainment, and much more,” according to a release.
RealityCon is the latest in MTV’s growing slate of live events, including the SnowGlobe Music Festival and MTV Spring Break.
The inaugural event is set to take place in the summer of 2020 with a soft launch this fall. MTV promises to announce additional global events soon.
The main venue and locations of RealityCon have yet to be announced.
