A+E-owned female-focused channel Lifetime is preparing a follow-up special to the network’s acclaimed Surviving R. Kelly docuseries.
Produced by Peacock Productions and hosted by journalist Soledad O’Brien, Surviving R Kelly: The Impact showcases the culture-impact the docuseries had around the world and its role in the conversation on sexual violence.
The two-hour special features footage from the docuseries, interviews with journalists, legal experts, NGOs and psychologists to discuss the ongoing saga surrounding the beleaguered R&B singer. Additionally, the special will examine Kelly’s interview with CBS This Morning co-anchor Gayle King this past March and the women who remain loyal to him.
Surviving R Kelly: The Impact is executive produced by Elizabeth Waller.
Seven weeks after the debut of the Surviving R. Kelly, the Cook County attorney’s office indicted Kelly on 10 felony counts of aggravated sexual assault involving four victims, ultimately leading to the crooner’s arrest.
Surviving R Kelly: The Impact is set to premiere May 4 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Lifetime.
