American non-fiction prodco Half Yard Productions, a Red Arrow Studios company, has brought on Dirk Hoogstra as EVP of development.
Hoogstra (pictured) will be based in Half Yard’s New York office, where he will work closely with the company’s recently promoted chief creative officer Nicole Sorrenti, and VP of development Matt Ayres.
Over his 23 years in the industry, Hoogstra has worked as a network executive and producer, holding senior positions including EVP and GM of A&E’s History — where he developed and oversaw unscripted series including American Pickers, Counting Cars, Mountain Men, Top Gear and The Bible — and VP of Discovery Communications.
He was most recently CEO of Triton City Entertainment.
The new appointment takes effect immediately.
“We’re thrilled to bring Dirk in to the Half Yard fold. Dirk and I worked together for many years at Discovery and TLC, developing hit series such as American Chopper, Dirty Jobs and Little People, Big World. We’ve had a lot of success together, and I wanted to bring that creative chemistry over to Half Yard,” said Half Yard CEO Sean Gallagher.
“Dirk will be a great addition to our team. He brings a ton of experience and is focused on ramping up our development pipeline. We couldn’t be more pleased,” added Sorrenti.
