Cooking Channel, a Discovery-owned American pay-TV channel, released its October titles Aug. 28, serving up its Halloween-themed series Freakshow Cakes and seasonal special Trick or Eat.

Freakshow Cakes, premiering Oct. 4 at 11 p.m. ET/PT, follows three “sinister” cake artists as they whip up “wildly imaginative and hair-raising” creations in hopes of winning US$10,000 and the title of Freakshow Champion.

The series is hosted by Zac Young (pictured left), pastry chef and television personality, and Vivian Chan (right), digital culinary producer at Discovery. Each episode challenges teams of bakers to create scary cakes with inspiration from clowns, snakes, fortune tellers and flame shows.

Premiering Oct. 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, Trick or Eat stars American chef and TV personality Carla Hall as she journeys through America to showcase “ghoulishly good grub and tricked-out treats,” such as zombie burgers in Atlanta, colossal freak shakes in Salem, Mass. and Franken-chops in New Orleans.

New episodes of The Best Thing I Ever Ate, Food Truck Nation, Man v. Food, Carnival Eats, Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations, Food Paradise, Man’s Greatest Food and Yum and Yummer are also slated for October.
