Discovery-owned MotorTrend Group and BBC Studios have tapped actors Dax Shepard and Rob Corddry and automotive journalist Jethro Bovingdon to host the U.S. version of British automotive format Top Gear.

Top Gear America, premiering in the spring of 2020 on the MotorTrend App, will deliver a “fresh, uniquely American” take on the classic series.

The original BBC show, which debuted in its current format in 2002, tests whether cars live up to their manufacturers’ claims. Traveling around the world, the long running series includes stunts with the vehicles and has featured celebrity guests such as Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz and Will Smith.

Top Gear America is produced by BBC Studios, with Craig Armstrong serving as showrunner. Travis Shakespeare is executive producer for BBC Studios and Levi Rugg is executive producer for MotorTrend Group.

“What an extraordinary trio to add to the storied history of the Top Gear franchise,” Alex Wellen, global president and general manager of MotorTrend Group, said in a statement. “Individually Dax, Rob and Jethro bring unique experiences, perspectives and genuine passion for the automotive world. Together they create all the essential and joyful ingredients that we’ve come to love about Top Gear – comradery, competitiveness and sheer curiosity. We can’t wait to share their exhilarating adventures as they traverse American car culture with each new episode of Top Gear America.”
