With the 27th annual edition of the World Congress of Science and Factual Producers coming to an end today (Dec. 5) in Tokyo, Japan, organizers of the event have unveiled that the host city for the 2020 edition will be Strasbourg, France.
The 2020 Congress event will take place from Dec. 7-10 with the support of host Franco-German free-to-air network ARTE G.E.I.E. and additional host partners Eurométropole de Strasbourg, Strasbourg Convention Bureau and Région Grand Est. The venue will be announced in January.
The four-day Congress ’19, which was held in Japan’s capital city and supported by host broadcaster NHK, welcomed 715 international delegates. Producers, creators and tech companies in attendance included AJ+, Barcroft Studios, bilibili, Crossover Labs, CuriosityStream, Dolby, Iqiyi, Little Dot Studios, Netflix, NSC Creative, Tencent, Ubisoft, Underknown, Vsauce, Yahoo! Japan, and YouTube Originals APAC.
Sally Warring of Pondlife! took home this year’s “Science in 60 Seconds” grand prize, a competition for emerging indie filmmakers. Warring will receive economy airfare, four nights’ hotel and registration for Congress ’20 in Strasbourg.
