Andrew Zimmern‘s prodco Intuitive Content has appointed Patrick McMahill as vice president of production and development.

McMahill (pictured) will report directly to Zimmern, founder and CEO of Intuitive, and SVP Patrick Weiland. His duties will include generating new character-driven docuseries and creating original formats for broadcast, cable networks and streaming platforms.

He joins the current programming team of 10 to help oversee a production slate of close to 100 hours, including the upcoming What’s Eating America with Andrew Zimmern for MSNBC.

The appointment comes just weeks after Intuitive announced its first foray into a new genre with the true crime series How to Survive a Murder, produced for Reelz.

McMahill has a long history with Intuitive and most recently produced How to Survive a Murder and the second season of The Zimmern List (Travel Channel).

He was previously director of the second season of the hit HGTV series Home Town and has over 10 years experience working in formats and home renovation, design and lifestyle shows with networks including A&E, PBS, Travel Channel, NatGeo, History, HGTV and DIY. His credits include Log Cabin Living, Beach Hunters, Rustic Renovation, We Bought the Farm, Mountain Men, Renovate to Rent, Renovation Road and Stone House Revival.

“We’ve worked with Patrick for years and had always admired his strong creative vision and been impressed by his reputation as a well-respected producer,” said Zimmern in a statement. “Adding him to our expanding team is significant as we continue to grow our crime programming and prioritize new genres such as lifestyle and home renovation.”
