A+E Networks-owned women’s entertainment cable net Lifetime has greenlit the eight-episode relationship series Battlefield of Love from Matador Content, a division of Boat Rocker Media.
Battlefield of Love will follow nine active duty military members who have fallen in love with civilians they’ve met online as they navigate continents, war zones, cultural divides and family objections.
As the majority of these featured couples have yet to meet in person, the docuseries will seek to capture a range of “firsts,” from first kiss to first meal to the first time meeting family and friends.
Throughout the series, each couple must determine whether their digital bond can transfer to the real world and make the romantic relationship work while living together for the first time, or face the prospect of walking away forever.
A premiere date has not yet been announced.
“Battlefield of Love is another authentic offering in our core relationship genre,” said McCarthy, EVP and head of Lifetime unscripted, in a statement. “This dating phenomenon really happens, and the series blends aspects of Army Wives with Married at First Sight, with incredibly high stakes and a legitimate ticking clock.”
