Sky Studios’ Catalina Content has appointed Jupiter Entertainment executive and veteran producer Deborah Allen to senior vice president of content.

Allen (pictured left) will report to Catalina president Jeff Collins (right) and lead the Los Angeles-based outfit’s slate, supervising production and supporting creative development of existing shows such as Snapped: Notorious (Oxygen), The Killer Truth (HLN, HBO Max), Storm of Suspicion (The Weather Channel), Sins of the City (TV One) and Vengeance (HLN), as well as an unannounced series for Animal Planet.

Allen most recently served as VP of programming at Jupiter Entertainment, also part of Sky Studios, the production arm of UK broadcaster Sky.

The executive has produced more than 750 hours of non-fiction programming for networks such as Oxygen, A&E, Investigation Discovery, National Geographic and History Channel.

At Jupiter Entertainment, she executive produced Oxygen’s Snapped and worked across series such as Killer Couples and City Confidential.

“Allen’s impressive experience in unscripted storytelling, underscored by her track record of launching a slew of successful hit franchises, is an obvious draw,” Collins said in a statement. “Bringing her on board is cornerstone to our expansion of the West Coast creative team.”

Sky Studios launched the non-scripted, Los Angeles-based outfit in January 2020, tapping Collins to lead the operation.

The company has since secured more than 85 hours of programming across multiple networks and platforms.

Most recently, Catalina announced a partnership with actress and activist Mira Sorvino to produce Transformation Ranch, a docuseries about human trafficking.
