Discovery+ is travelling to Helotes, Texas in its newest series Pig Royalty, produced by Hot Snakes Media.

The series (pictured) dives into the world of pig show competitions and follows the rivalry of two families: the Baleros and the Rihns, who travel across the state competing for prizes including money, scholarships and the coveted “buckles” awarded to winners.

For Hot Snakes Media, Eric Evangelista, Shannon Evangelista, Erik Kesten and Benjamin Ringe are executive producers. For Animal Planet, Erin Wanner is executive producer and Pat Dempsey is supervising producer.

Pig Royalty premieres March 23. The series will also air on Discovery Channel for two weeks beginning March 23 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Elsewhere, Discovery+ continues to ramp up its documentary slate. The streamer is set to debut Miracle Fishing: Kidnapped Abroad this month.

The film, directed by Miles Hargrove (Stanley Marcus Documentary, The Starck Club), was an official selection of 2020′s Tribeca Film Festival, AFI Docs and DOC NYC.

Miracle Fishing: Kidnapped Abroad tells the story of Hargrove’s father who was kidnapped outside their home in Cali, Colombia in 1994 by the FARC (The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia).

To cope with the negotiations, Hargrove kept a video diary of the events, which he later revisited to create the documentary.

The film premieres March 25.
