Abacus Media Rights acquires The Beatles And India doc

Abacus Media Rights (AMR), a member of the Amcomri Media Group, has secured distribution rights to The Beatles And India, which premieres at the BFI June 6.

The 96-minute feature (pictured) is produced by Reynold D’Silva, founder and CEO of Silva Screen Music Group, an independent British music company. Ajoy Bose, author of the book, Across the Universe, serves as director with Pete Compton.

Mixing archival footage with recordings and photographs, eye-witness accounts and location shoots across India, the documentary delves into the journey of The Beatles members George, John, Paul and Ringo to a remote Himalayan ashram.

Pluto TV launches new channels in the UK

ViacomCBS Networks UK is launching seven new channels on its free streaming television service Pluto TV in the UK this month.

The AVOD platform has signed deals with All3Media International, FilmRise, Tastemade and Motorvision to bring more than 800 hours of new content to the service.

Launches include single series channels Ten Years Younger and reality channel So Real from All3Media International, with a shorter window channel also running for drama Wild at Heart, single series channels Most Haunted and Highway to Heaven from FilmRise, in addition to lifestyle streaming network Tastemade and car-focused channel, Motorvision.

Ten Years Younger, Wild At Heart, Tastemade and Most Haunted are all launching this week on Pluto TV, So Real and Highway To Heaven will launch on the 14th June and Motorvision on 28th June.

Discovery+ India expands content offering

Discovery+ India is adding more than 750 hours of content, including premium and non-fiction content from A+E Networks in an extension of Discovery’s U.S. partnership.

The A+E Networks deal covers India streaming rights across shows including Pawn Stars and Storage Wars, as well as made-in-India History TV18 shows including OMG! Yeh Mera India, Kumbh: Among The Seekers and Dwarkadhish: Kingdom of Krishna.

A selection of titles are now available, with more set to launch over the coming months.

In addition to A+E Networks titles, other acquisitions include Hell’s Kitchen, 2021 FIM MotoGP World Championship and Top Gear America, as well Walking with Elephants ft Levison Wood, I Love A Mama’s Boy and Undercover Billionaire: Comeback City.

The streamer has been growing its local original production output in 2021 with titles including Star vs Food, Secrets of Sinauli: Discovery of the Century, Mission Frontline, Ladakh Warrior and Vande Bharat Flight IX 1344: Hope to Survival.
