Showtime will broadcast UFO, a new documentary series from J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot and documentarian Glen Zipper, exploring the fascination with unidentified flying objects.
The four-part series from directors Mark Monroe (Icarus) and Paul Crowder (Riding Giants) examines various theories about UFOs, which have recently been gaining more prominence as the U.S. government releases formerly classified documents about the Pentagon secretly tracking UFOs for years. The series promises to explore not only the phenomenon of UFOs, but also the question of why we believe what we believe.
UFO is a co-production of Bad Robot and Zipper Bros Films. Showtime will release all four episodes of the series to subscribers at midnight on Aug. 8, with the series also premiering on air that night at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
The series is executive produced by Abrams, Zipper, Monroe and Sean Stuart, along with Ben Stephenson and Rachel Rusch Rich from Bad Robot. It’s co-executive produced by Kevin Lincoln and produced by Maren Domzalski and Paul McGuire.
