Warner Bros. Discovery UK, partnering with Optomen TV, has unveiled two new commissions for the company’s Vs. format, Coleen vs. Rebekah and Britney vs. Jamie.

The Vs. format first launched in December 2021 with the two-part Johnny vs. Amber documentary, which explored Johnny Depp’s defamation lawsuit against the tabloid paper The Sun in the UK High Court. The series is currently ranked as the top Discovery+ acquisition driver in the UK, with strong engagement levels across the U.S., EMEA and international markets. WBD has commissioned a follow-up season, which will focus on the ongoing, high-profile legal battle between Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard in the U.S.

The first of the new Vs. series, Coleen vs. Rebekah, will cover the UK court battle between Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy, the wives of two star football players. In 2019, Rooney posted a series of fake stories on her private Instagram to determine who was leaking her personal information to The Sun. Rooney then announced via social media that Vardy was the leak. Vardy maintained her innocence, and sued Rooney for defamation.

Britney vs. Jamie covers the potential legal suit brewing between Britney Spears and her father Jamie. The pop superstar has indicated she might press charges against her father for financial corruption and conservator abuse, following her recent liberation from the controversial 13-year conservatorship he exercised over her. The series will look into the family feud, examine an archive of media interviews and appearances, photos, social media posts and legal testimony.

The new Vs. series were executive produced by Matt Reid for Warner Bros. Discovery in the UK, and by Nick Hornby and Sarah Eglin for Optomen TV.

The new series, as well as the second season of Johnny vs. Amber, will all debut on Discovery+ in the UK later this year.
