Channel 4 has greenlit a pair of titles that put a comedic spin on the travel genre.
First up is Joe and Katherine’s Bargain Holidays starring comedians Joe Wilkinson and Katherine Ryan, a consumer show from Hungry Bear Media about how to have a holiday on a shoestring budget. The series will see the duo pursue bargain getaways in and outside the UK, and will feature little-known resorts and reviews of the most value-for-money restaurants and activities in each destination.
The 6 x 60-minute series is executive produced by Dan Baldwin and Mel Smith.
Open Mike Productions is behind the second title, The Wonders of the World I Can’t See (w/t), a comedy travelogue starring acclaimed comedian Chris McCausland. The 4 x 60-minute series follows McCausland, who is blind, around the world to iconic landmarks, with a different celebrity guest as his traveling companion for each episode. The companions will provide an audio description of the site for McCausland, and try to prove to him that there’s more to visiting these places than just their visual splendor.
Jim Hickey is the series producer and director, while Andrew Beint and Andy Thistlewood are executive producers for Open Mike.
