The second season of Icon Films' River Monsters debuted on Animal Planet last night (Sunday, April 27) to record viewership. The premiere episode brought in over 1.7 million viewers, ranking in the top five in non-sports cable programming in that time slot and as the highest rated season premiere in Animal Planet history. Last year River Monsters, which follows angler Jeremy Wade as he seeks out weird and dangerous freshwater fish, broke records becoming the best performing series in the network's history. This second season of the series will see Wade seek out creatures such as the Nile perch, snakehead fish, goliath tigerfish and freshwater river shark.
