Heenes plead guilty to charges stemming from balloon brouhaha

In a Larimer County court today, Richard Heene pleaded guilty to a felony charge of attempting to influence a public servant, while Mayumi Heene pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of false reporting, concerning the runaway balloon incident that captivated global media attention on Oct. 15. On that day, the Heenes reported to police in the Colorado county that their son Falcon was aboard a runaway balloon. Police chased the balloon for 50 miles, and when it descended, the boy wasn't found. The Heenes subsequently reported the boy was safe and hiding at home. Sentencing will be brought against the couple at a later date.
